Last updated: June 2, 2026
This policy explains how noteghost ("we", "the app") handles your data. We believe in being honest and clear about what we collect and why.
What we collect
When you use noteghost, we collect the following information to make the app work:
- Account info: Email address, display name, and profile picture from Google or Apple sign-in.
- Profile info: Username, avatar settings, points balance, genre preferences, and solve count.
- Audio clips: User-recorded humming or singing clips.
- Posts and guesses: Titles, descriptions, genre tags, YouTube IDs/links, timestamps, and notes.
- App activity: Follows, post views, reports, and blocks.
Third-party services
We use a few trusted services to help run noteghost:
- Supabase: We use Supabase to store our database, manage user accounts, and host audio files. Our primary database hosting is in the European Union.
- ACRCloud: When you record a clip, the audio is sent to ACRCloud servers. They analyze the fingerprint of the audio to see if they can identify the song. This only happens when you record a clip for identification.
- Google & Apple: These services handle the sign-in process. Their own privacy policies apply to the information they share with us.
How we use your data
We use your information to:
- Identify songs using audio fingerprinting.
- Build your social feed and suggest posts you might like.
- Manage the virtual points economy.
- Keep the community safe through our reporting system.
Your rights
- Account deletion: You can delete your account in the app or via our deletion page at /delete-account.
- Data access / portability: You can contact us to request a copy of your data.
- EU rights: If you are in the EEA/UK, you may also request correction, restriction, or deletion where applicable.
Updates
If we make major changes to how we handle your data, we will update this policy and the "Last updated" date at the top.
